Service Technician Apprentice – HVAC

Location: Farmingdale, NY
Pay: $22-30/hour, based on experience
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed

Position Overview

A growing HVAC company in Farmingdale, NY is seeking a Service Technician Apprentice to join its service team. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically inclined individual looking to develop their HVAC service and troubleshooting skills while working alongside experienced technicians.

The apprentice will assist with service calls, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and other HVAC-related work while gaining hands-on experience and progressing toward becoming a fully qualified HVAC Service Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist Service Technicians with HVAC service calls and preventative maintenance
• Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC equipment and system issues
• Assist with repairs, replacements, and equipment maintenance
• Work with hand and power tools and HVAC service equipment
• Assist with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
• Help inspect systems and identify potential problems
• Assist with testing equipment and verifying proper operation
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Follow company safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members
• Complete service paperwork and documentation as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Some HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or construction experience preferred
• HVAC trade school or technical training is a plus
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Comfortable working with hand and power tools
• Ability to follow instructions and work alongside experienced technicians
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset
• Reliable, punctual, and professional
• Good communication and customer-service skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments
• Ability to lift equipment and materials and perform physical work throughout the day

Compensation

Up to $30/hour based on experience
