Landlord-Tenant Litigation Paralegal Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, including 4+ years focused on unlawful detainer or landlord-tenant law in California
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office 365, and legal practice/case management software (Clio, Filevine, MyCase, ProLaw)
Excellent analytical, proofreading, and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage high-pressure and fast-track legal proceedings

Landlord-Tenant Litigation Paralegal Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Draft, review, and coordinate service of statutory pre-litigation notices in accordance with state and local law
Prepare Judicial Council forms, complaints, answers, motions, and complex pleadings for unlawful detainer cases
Manage litigation dockets, monitor deadlines, and maintain compliance with expedited statutory timelines
E-file documents across various California jurisdictions and liaise with court personnel
Propound and respond to discovery, including interrogatories and requests for production and admissions
Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit management, subpoenas, and witness coordination
Draft post-judgment documents and coordinate with county authorities on enforcement actions and evictions
Serve as a primary point of contact between attorneys, clients, property managers, tenants, and related parties
