The reading specialist supports comma supplements and extends classroom teaching and works collaboratively to implement a quality reading program that is research-based data driven and meets the individual needs of students. Key responsibilities: Provide direct reading instruction to small groups and individual students based on their specific needs. Assess students reading abilities and implement appropriate intervention strategies. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals to integrate literacy strategies into the curriculum. Support students through in classroom instruction and individualized literacy sessions. Develop and lead professional development sessions on best practices and reading instruction. Work as part of a team to evaluate and recommend reading programs to be implemented school wide. Monitor student progress, adjust instructional approaches as needed, and document interventions. Collaborate with classroom staff to implement evidence based literacy strategies tailored to students with special needs. Communicate with parents, providing recommendations and strategies to support their child's reading development at home. Attend and participate in IEP meetings providing appropriate input. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Valid NJ DOE Reading Specialist Certification (required) Experience working with students with special needs is preferred. Chronology of literacy intervention strategies and differentiated instruction. Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with parents and staff. Passionate about improving literacy skills and fostering love for reading and students. #J-18808-Ljbffr
